So, here we are again, June-July 08. Like last year, our flat is in the King's Cross neighborhood, and it is kinda really in the hood, by London standards, but, even though our flat does not lean towards the hip/swank like Tara's did last year, or the genteel/dowdy as did the one in Chelsea, it has a pleasantness about it and has the most wonderful feature, owing to our being on the top (sixth) floor. We have a private roof garden! Oh, if anyone, like Michael, for example, reads this, he'll again mock me for taking on a boasting tone. Oh, poor me, in my ethnic London neighborhood in the cozy flat with the roof garden. The photos running aside this entry should have been edited down. but I can't didn't remember to do it before I imported them to the blog, so we are stuck with all of them. They were all taken a few days ago at, well can't you figure it out? Abbey Rd! This was at the request of Ray and it turned out to be a fun outing. Not too many other tourists at the time. It is the tradition to write grafitti to the fence outside of the studio, as well as, of course, having your picture taken walking the zebra walk. They warn tourists about the danger of this, as it is a busy intersection and the drivers aren't so patient with the hoards of people who hold up traffic. So I took a picture of some other guys crossing who looked, I thought, kinda cute, being four of them like the originals.
And what is that, down below? I mean the hand writing grafitti? Why I believe it is the had of Ray Segura in absentia !!! Yes, we left Ray's name and date on the fence. Sorry we didn't have a better marker so it could be writ large. But, there it is, anyway, at least until they paint over it, which they apparently do quite often, because none of the postings seemed to be more that a few months old. For some reason, probably because I am a sentimental, dim, nostalgic treacle brain, it made me almost want to cry reading the love notes to the Beatles. You know, they were kinda the soundtrack of my glorious youth.
And now I notice that not all of the photos got imported and I haven't a clue why not.
